Effective: 4 pages in the site; 2 paragraphs of text per page
Baseline: 3 pages in the site; 1 paragraph of text per page
Beginning: 2 pages in the site; a sentece of text per page

  1. HTML Usage & templates

Exemplary: list, table* (contains the items below and these)
Effective: break tags+ (contains the items below and these)
Baseline: paired tags (contains the items below and these)
Beginning: doctypes (contains the items below and these)

*does not need to used on all pages although normally consistency is important to a site holding together.  However, if you are shaky with tables a good way to do this is to have a home page (index.htm) designed with a table and the other pages looking the same but designed without a table.

This is is another one of the sections where you need to do each of the items up to and including the rating you wish to achieve. So, for baseline (6 points) you need to have a navigation area and consistently functioning and looking navigation.

  1. Browser Compatibility/ Usability

Exemplary: directions are very easy to understand
Effective: renders consistently in both; directions easier to understand
Baseline: renders nicely in IE or FF
Beginning: has complete structure ( standard structure - see below )

This is is another one of the sections where you need to do each of the items up to and including the rating you wish to achieve. So, for baseline (6 points) you need to have files with complete structure and pages that look good in one of the two browsers mentioned (or now Chrome from Google)
